Problem-Solving Skills
Problem-solving begins with identifying the problem, generating ideas to address the problem, evaluating whether the ideas are good, bad or horrible, and then analyzing how to implement the ideas. And then once it is done, take a look back to see what you could've done differently. It's really not difficult, it just takes a little time to sort it all out and the desire to WANT to make the good decision. 1. understand the problem 2. devise a plan 3. carry out the plan. 4. look back on the results. It's real easy Weezy.
Life Plans
Mind maps are a great way to map out your life plans. Take a look at this mind map that focuses on the life of Sir Richard Branson. Life maps can be artistic in nature, they can look like some sort of scribbled diagram, or they can be post it notes etc. — they can be any shape, style or form you would like. The most important thing is to remember that they are constantly changing. As soon as you complete one, you'll be ready for the next. Mind maps allow you to see possibility, they provide direction, and they allow you to dream. Mind maps are a great way of creating a path for the future. Take a closer look at this Sir Richard Branson map by Scott Sicinski (2009) or do a web search of mind maps to explore the many possibilities.
The LARCs (long-acting reversible contraception)
Personal experience and research lead us to believe that the LARCs are some of the greatest things on earth. They are the most effective, longest-acting, unforgettable method of contraception available. So why don't more women use them? One of the leading reasons is because they don't know they exist. Take a look at the BEDSIDER site to learn more. A recent study of 10,000 women over 4 years shows that not only do women like them, but they like them so much that 87% of the 10,000 women who choose an LARC were still using them 4 years later. Want the science behind it all? Check out the Contraceptive Choice Project in St. Louis.
There are 4 components to our mission: 1. Advocate for the use of long-acting reversible contraception (IUDs, Implants, Injectables) and the regular use of condoms. 2. Develop problem-solving skills 3. Promote the creation of life plans. 4. Use a social media delivery.
